There is a vast difference between the two goats for which lots were cast at Yom Kippur. Leviticus 16 says that one was marked קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה Kodesh L'Yehovah - Holy/Set-apart to יְהוָֺה [Exodus 28:36] and the other “for Azazel.” The one that is Set-apart to יְהוָֺה is sacrificed and its blood placed on the Mercyseat, כַּפֹּרֶת kapporet, the word from which kippur is derived.   On the 1st day of the Seventh Month (Tishrei) the Torah commands us to observe the holy day of *Yom Teruah which means “Day of Shouting” (Leviticus 23:23-25; Numbers 29:1-6). Yom Teruah is a day of rest on which work is forbidden. One of the unique things about Yom Teruah is that the Torah does not say what the purpose of this holy day is. The Torah gives at least one reason for all the other holy days and two reasons for some. The Feast of Matzot (Unleavened Bread) commemorates the Exodus from Egypt, but it is also a celebration of the beginning of the barley harvest (Exodus 23:15; Leviticus 23:4–14). The Feast of Shavuot (Weeks) is a celebration of the wheat harvest (Exodus 23:16; 34:22). Yom Ha-Kippurim (aka Yom Kippur) is a national day of atonement as described in great detail in Leviticus 16.   בְּ רֵאשִׁית, בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים , אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ In the beginning ELOHIM created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 H430 EL - Elohim אֱלֹהִים EhloHEEM is plural even though YEHOVAH IS ONE and He has ONE NAME, יְהוָֺה. However, He has many descriptions. The writers of the TORAH use the plural of EL to show emphasis when speaking of the Creator. Note: The first word in the Torah begins with a larger letter beit בּ to show importance.   אֵלֶּה תוֹלְדוֹת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְהָאָרֶץ, בְּהִבָּרְאָם:   בְּיוֹם, עֲשׂוֹת יְהוָֺה אֱלֹהִים --אֶרֶץ וְשָׁמָיִם These are the generations of the heaven and of the earth when they were created, in the day that YEHOVAH ELOHIM made earth and heaven. Genesis 2:4 H3068 Yehovah is translated as LORD in all upper-case letters.
