TESHUAH - How It Began
Furthermore, Yehovah said to Moshe, “You shall say to the
children of Yisra'el, יְהוָֺה YEHOVAH, Elohim of your fathers; the Elohim of
Abraham, the Elohim of Yitzhak, and the Elohim of Ya'acob has sent me to you:
this is My Name FOREVER, and this is My Name that you must remember to call Me
for all generations.”
Exodus [Sh'mot = NAMES] 3:15
How
It Began
Brett came from a Presbyterian
background, Marie from a Baptist background. We both found ourselves wanting
more understanding of the Word and a deeper experience with Yashua (then, only
knowing Him as “Jesus”). We both wound up moving into Pentecostal/Charismatic churches
and eventually a Messianic congregation.
While attending a local contemporary
congregation, we began to ask questions about the Jewish roots of our faith.
Marie became very instrumental in growing the first local Messianic
congregation out of a desire to keep the Sabbath and the Feasts of Yehovah only
to find that their desire to reach the Jewish community for Jesus really only
drew in other Christians with a desire to understand Jewish tradition and how it
might apply to the Christian religion. Subtly obvious, Clarksville, Tennessee
doesn’t have a noticeable Jewish community. Many ethnic Jews that still live
here are either not religious, attend synagogue in Nashville or have converted
to Christianity.
With a deep hunger for the pure
Word of Yehovah and a desire to obey His instructions out of a heart of love,
we were inspired to start a home fellowship where we could learn and put to
practice all that Yehovah was teaching us. That fellowship no longer meets for
weekly Shabbat but does gather for Yehovah’s Feast days and memorial days as
often as possible.
We have barely scratched the surface
but as our love grows, our desire to obey Him grows proportionately.
The great adventure never stops and
never goes backward!
TESHUAH
- תְּשׁוּעָה
Teshuah means FREEDOM! Cried out
like Braveheart would have, with passion; it is a declaration of salvation, deliverance,
and healing - spiritual, physical, and emotional. This became the name of our chavurah
because of a dream that Marie had where the five Hebrew letters, tav ת, sheen שׁ,
vav ו, ayin ע,
hey ה, were seen on a scroll displayed on our
TV. It’s a long story, but it has been a goal to learn what it would be like to
live the freedom of a Torah-observant life! We may as well practice now. All
those who make it to the millennial reign of Messiah will be obeying His commandments
freely. [Strong’s H8668 תְּשׁוּעָה]
Digging
for Truth
In Jeremiah 16:19 … Surely our
fathers have inherited lies …
And Zechariah 8:23 -
Yehovah-Tsava’ot says, “In those days, ten men, out of all the languages of the
nations, shall take hold of the corner {כָּנָף k’noph - corner of the garment
where the tassels with the blue cord called tzitzit צִיצִת were} of the garment
of one of the tribe of Yehudah saying, we will go with you for we have heard
that Elohim is with you.”
Over the last 2000+ years, we have
come to a place where the Scriptures are being interpreted according to the
whims of people’s hearts or are being twisted and promulgated by denominational
dogma aka ‘pet doctrines’ that define the ‘god-boxes’ that they serve.
Every time Yashua was tempted by
ha’satan, He quoted TeNaKh! [T-Torah; N-Nebi’im or Prophets; K-Ketuvim or
Writings] Where the enemy twisted it in His ear, Yashua straightened it out!
Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory
of Elohim to conceal a matters
but the glory of kings to search it out.”
In these last days, there is coming
a famine of the WORDs
and we must search for it with all our might!
Back
to the Beginning*
10 Things
1. Yehovah is His Name FOREVER.
Exodus 3:15
2. Yashua, His Son, is the Living
Torah, the Word of Yehovah. John 1:1-5
3. Torah° was not done away
with and obedience to His instructions° proves our love for Him. It is
NOT too difficult or burdensome. John 14:15, 21, 23; Deut. 30:11; 1 John 5:3
4. Shabbat and the Feasts of Yehovah
are forever. Leviticus 23
5. He came ‘only for the lost sheep
of Israel’ and ‘all of Israel will be saved.’ When we are grafted in through
the Blood of Yashua, we become a part of Israel. We didn't replace the Jews (Judah)
or any other tribe, for we all must be grafted in. Matthew 15:24; Romans 11
6. Bringing tithes and offerings to
the ‘storehouse’ wasn’t meant to take care of the storehouse itself but to take
care of the people - widows, orphans, and the poor. Malichi 3; 1 Tim. 5
7. The ‘nicolaitans’ are those who
‘conquer the people’ by using ‘inherited lies’ and ‘doctrines of demons’ to
keep them in religious bondage. Rev. 2:6, 15; 1 Tim. 4:1
8. Being a part of a 501c3
corporation (trap) limits the congregation or group from being able to teach
and keep the whole Word of Yehovah. Teaching against sin is limited or not
permitted at all and eventually which god you can and cannot serve will be forced
upon the people by the government via the IRS.
9. Pagan rituals and traditions of
men cannot be used to worship Yehovah. Deut. 12:29-32
10. Yehovah isn’t impressed with my
interpretation of Scripture and a prophetic word should not be an attempt at
telling the future. “That’s not what it means to me.” Won’t hold up on judgment
day. He might just say, “You said I said WHAT?”
*Remember the former things of old:
for I am Elohim, and there is none else; I am Elohim, and there is none like
Me. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things
that are not yet done, saying, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My
pleasure” Isaiah 46:9-10
°Torah = instructions, not law
Important
Quotes
“If
you’re obedient, legalism is moot!”
I don’t like to say, “God told me”
and I’m not very comfortable with, “I believe God is saying…” either. So, I
would say that this was Father Yehovah answering a specific question that I
asked Him. The question was: “Father, how can I present the instructions that
You have opened our eyes to, to those around me?”
You see, just a short time ago, I would have thought that what I am
seeing with my own eyes today, as legalism. It was how the “law” had been
presented to me for my entire life! Now, as a facilitator of a home fellowship,
I (we) could either pretend it didn’t exist, dumb it down, or just spit it out!
After He impressed on me His answer,
“If you’re obedient, legalism is moot!” I (we) chose to just lay it all
out in the open. I decided to look up the word “moot” to see what it meant in
English. I found it to mean “debatable.” I had always thought that it meant
“pointless.” So, I decided to spell it phonetically with Hebrew letters and
look it up that way. As it turns out, H4191 מוּת
moot means dead!
“If you’re obedient, legalism is dead!”
Needless to say, only a few remain.
~ Marie Schryver
… “It is better to speak the truth
that hurts and then heals, than falsehood that comforts and then kills. Let me
tell you something, friend, it is not love and it is not friendship if we fail
to declare the whole counsel of God. It is better to be hated for telling the
truth than to be loved for telling a lie. It is impossible to find anyone in
the Bible who was a power for God who did not have enemies and was not hated.
It’s better to stand to ultimately succeed with the truth than to temporarily
succeed with a lie. There is only one Gospel and Paul said, “If any man preach
any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be
accursed”.” [Gal. 1:8]

talk at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in 1996] www.ecclesia.org/truth/worshipping.html
We
are a “chavurah” חֲבוּרָה
A chavurah or havurah
(Hebrew: "fellowship", plural chavurot) is a small group of
like-minded believers in Messiah Yashua who assemble for the purposes of
facilitating Shabbat and holy day prayer services, sharing communal experiences
such as life events, or Hebrew learning. This would include Torah observance
and the Hebrew language for the purpose of understanding and implementing
Yehovah’s instructions into daily lives.
Chavurot usually provide autonomous alternatives to established institutions
and denominations. Most chavurot place an emphasis on spiritual and social
equality in the broad sense (of which race and gender are included), depending
on participation by the entire community rather than top-down direction by
clergy.
For example, Pesach (Passover) would
usually be celebrated in the individual home but with a chavurah, a group of
several families would gather for the Seder celebration rather than attend a
Messianic congregation or synagogue. This would also include the weekly
Shabbat.
